Sitting on the garden swing, cooling down a bit from weeding, transplanting, laying down mulch, and cleaning up the garden. I watched my two youngest granddaughters’ soccer games this morning, then they joined me at Kuntsfest, an arts and crafts (and food!) fair in nearby New Harmony. It was hot, to say the least, but they didn’t complain – not bad for eight- and 10-years old! Their idea of checking the sites at an art fair is somewhat different than mine, but we had a good time. I’m glad they still want to spend time with Nana!
I startled the small frog living in my tiny pond when I fed the fish earlier – and he startled me a bit, too, plopping off a lily pad and swimming out of site under the rocks surrounding the small fountain. I hadn’t seen him in a while, so I was happy to see him. He seems healthy. Hopefully, he’s enjoying the mosquitoes who seem happiest when feeding on me!
Lights and lanterns and white roses brighten the corners of my garden this evening. They, too, are startling, not as in surprising, but startling in their quiet simplicity, ushering in the darkness, calming my mind and soul. Remember to breathe, inhaling the startling joy and simplicity of the day, exhaling the stress and worry. Music and laughter, blessings and hugs.
